Shaping the Future of AI In Education
The Californians Dedicated to Education (CDE) Foundation is leading the AI Professional Learning Project, which is aimed at shaping the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in California’s K-12 education system and classrooms. CDE Foundation works as a trusted partner with state education leaders and entities to create, resource, and implement solutions that result in a strong and valued public education system that serves every student in California.
The AI Professional Learning Project is dedicated to exploring and sharing emerging best practices and policies that enhance educators’ understanding of artificial intelligence, equipping them to improve their capacity for integrating AI in Public Education.
The project creates collaborative learning environments designed for specific educator roles, including Pre-Service Teachers, Teachers, Teacher Coaches, Administrators, Labor Management Teams, and Educator Preparation Program Leaders.
These educators engage in online professional learning communities to examine and promote cutting-edge practices and policies that strengthen educators’ knowledge and use of artificial intelligence in educator preparation programs, classrooms, and school districts.
Who We Serve With the AI Professional Learning Communities
- Pre-Service Educator Training: Pre-service educators will connect for virtual learning and engage in person in Palm Springs, CA, from March 19-21, 2026, at Spring CUE, featuring the STEAM Symposium.
- Capacity Building for Educator Preparation Leaders: Leaders from institutions of higher education and local education agencies that support educator preparation will gather to identify, share, and practice using emerging AI tools in educator preparation.
- In-Service Educator Communities of Practice: Cohorts of in-service educators will be developed to engage in peer-led sessions of professional learning focused on innovative AI use cases and best practices for bringing AI to students.
- Labor Management Leadership Teams: Labor-Management teams will engage in collaborative learning communities to explore guiding principles, ethical uses, and best practices for AI integration in schools and districts.
